DON'T BRING US YOUR LATEX PAINT.

It's OK to dry it out and throw it in the garbage. We pay more than $100,000 a year to
get rid of the latex you bring us, money we have to charge you to run the program.

It's not hazardous waste.

However, that DOES NOT mean it's safe to flush down the drain or pour wherever you want.
Get rid of latex paint properly. See tips below:

  • Use it all! You paid for it, so put a second or third coat on whatever you're painting.
  • Dry it out in a well ventilated area and throw it in your regular garbage.
  • If you don't have much left, dry it out in the can. This can take some time so be careful
if you have little feet or pets running around that could kick the can over.
  • Or, line a big box with plastic and fill it with thin layers of latex paint. Once it's dry,
pour in another layer until you have no more paint left in the can. Place newspaper
or kitty litter in the box to help absorb more paint. When the paint in the box is dried,
throw it all in the garbage.  MAKE SURE TO REMOVE THE LID BEFORE PLACING IT IN THE GARBAGE SO THEY CAN SEE THAT THE CAN IS EMPTY.
