27TH STREET DEEP TUNNEL
Construction is underway on a two-mile long addition to MMSD's Deep Tunnel system.  A boring machine, basically a massive rock drill, will carve the tunel out of bedrock 300 feet underground.  The tunnel will hold 27 million gallons of wastewater and stormwater.

HARBOR SIPHONS
This $138 million project will help deliver more wastewater directly to the Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility and, at the same time, reduce the amount that is stored in the Deep Tunnel system during heavy rain storms.  
SEWER REHABILITATION
The Central Metropolitan Interceptor Sewer (MIS) Improvement Project is a $300 million effort that will add another 50 years of service life to some older MMSD sewers without tearing up major sections of busy streets.
OVERFLOW REDUCTION PLAN
MMSD's $1 billion Overflow Reduction Plan includes massive construction projects, scientific research and planning, and simple ways for you to help protect Lake Michigan.  The entire plan must be finished by the end of 2010.
NORTHWEST SIDE DEEP TUNNEL
In operation since 2006, the tunnel stores wastewater 140 to 180 feet underground and provides an additional 89 million gallons of storage to the MMSD's Deep Tunnel system.
